The church in Ephesus was founded by Paul in the 50s AD. A few years later he wrote his Epistle to the Ephesians, but within a fairly short time the church was plagued by false teachers sowing confusion rather than gospel truth. Nearing the end of his life, Paul decides to station in Ephesus his most trusted assistant, Timothy. Now he writes to him, urging him to oppose the false teachers and look to the good news of Christ to shape the life of the Ephesian Christians and church. Along the way he reveals much about church leadership, relationships within the fellowship, and God's design for the local church.
