Paul's first letter to the Thessalonians is one of the earliest of the New Testament writings, sent to one of the first churches ever established when the gospel came to Europe for the first time.  Writing to newly-converted Christians facing persecution for their faith, Paul encourages them to hold fast to the truth of what they have believed and teaches them about the hope which is now theirs.
